IPA (India Pale Ale) has come a long way since the sad days of the British Empire. Boundary Bay’s was one of the first in the Northwest. The big malt backbone, juicy Amarillo hops, and assertive bitterness make this a true ‘classic.

Perhaps more than any beer, this Oatmeal Stout deserves to be called a “meal in a glass.” For many years stouts were considered so nutritious they were often served as a health tonic! Lightly hopped, Oatmeal Stout is aged for one month to allow the medley of dark malts and oats to celebrate their union.

Pilsner is one of the marvelous lager beer styles hailing from the cradle of modern beer civilization (Europe). Suspended high upon an evergreen tree, a Teddy Bear challenges riders on Galbraith Mountain to face Spirit Bear, the intense rock roll offshoot of Happy Hour. Spirit Bear IPL, a spinoff of two popular craft beer options, is a rarity amongst hoppy beers. It unites an IPA’s hoppy characteristics with a Lager’s clean, crisp essence. Spirit Bear IPL’s bouquet of floral and fruity aromas, soft bitterness and dry finish should be savored while it lasts.

Ripe and succulent, Abrikozen is a kettle-soured beer brewed with 100% local malt from Skagit Valley. Tart complexity bursts from this Fragrant, hazy sour as a result of the copious addition of apricot, passionfruit and Pineapple purees. Abrikozen tantalizes senses with its delicate funkiness, sunshine complexion and dry finish.

Wonderland’s namesake is a fabled trail on Galbraith Mountain that was destroyed and reborn anew. Accessible to most riders, it also boasts a popular big drop for the more experienced rider. True to the trail and style, Wonderland BSG is an approachable, powerful and intricate golden ale. Hidden behind the billowy lingering head, artfully balanced Body, and complex yeast character awaits a wondrous and deceptively strong treasure.

This Little Ray of Sunshine is The Boundary SMASH. Brewed with single malt and single hop varieties to showcase the distinctive characteristics of Pilot barley from Skagit Valley Malting and the Lemondrop hop variety.
The Boundary SMASH was brewed in coordination with Skagit Valley Malting for a Bellingham Beer Week Block Party and SMASHfest at Stones Throw Brewery on Friday, April 27. SMASHfest will feature SMASH beers from Stones Throw Brewery, Menace Brewing and Aslan Brewing Co. and Boundary Bay Brewery.
