Dave Beer on tap. Enjoy a cold one in memory of our friend and co-worker Dave Iverson

Dave Beer: On Tap Thursday, May 1st. A generously hopped Pale Ale brewed in memory of our friend and co-worker, Dave Iverson. A portion of sales will be donated to The Whatcom Hospice Foundation.

Boundary Bay Brewery named the largest Brew Pub in the Country: According to the Brewer’s Association, Boundary Bay Brewery has sold more beer than any other brew pub in the nation for the year 2007, 5,300 barrels.We were the second largest brew pub for several years and it feels good to finally be on top. To add to our elation, Cabin Fever just brought home a Silver Medal from the 2008 World Beer Cup. Congratulations brewers! Thanks for all your hard work!     Groovin' for Grizzlies and Bike to Work Day: It's Bear Awareness Week beginning with the tapping of the Grizzly Brown Cask Conditioned Ale on Thursday, May 8th, 4 pm.

    The Grizzly Bear Outreach Project will present a Free Backcountry Bear Awareness Presentation Tuesday, May 13th at 7pm at Backcountry Essentials (214 W Holly)

    Friday, May 16th at 7pm join us in the beer garden for an awesome fundraiser, put on by the folks from Conservation Northwest. You won't want to miss this exciting event culminating the end of Bear Awareness Week 2008! Included in the line up are Jordan Rain with his amazing mixing talents otherwise known as Yogoman's Wild Rumpus , the one-man band blues sensation Wisconsin Slim, and to finish off the night Joel Ricci's new funky dream child, Lucky Brown! Emcees: Krissa Woiwood and Rose Oliver. Advanced tickets just $10!     So come and get your groove thang on in Boundary Bay's Bear garden while supporting the recovery of the North Cascades grizzly bear population. What more could you ask for?!

    The Eighth Annual Explorations Academy FolkLIKE Music and Arts Festival: Saturday May 17th in the Beer Garden, enjoy a wild salmon barbeque, silent auction, dinner, music and dance. First, two rounds of silent auction begin at 5:30 pm and run through dinner, with the enjoyable background melodies of The Librarians. Following the dinner auction is a heart thumping live auction, desert action and centerpiece raffle. Near 9pm the evening will transition into the dance party opening with the rocking blues of The Fabulous Roofshakers from 9-10pm. Then, closing out the night, the danceable jam band Savage Henry. The evening show is included in the full festival admission price, or it is just $7 for the dance only. A silent auction will accompany the event – come bid on an amazing array of wonderful items.

    On Saturday, May 17 and Sunday May 18, the festival also features an amazing spectrum of music and arts workshops led by talented local artists and performers from noon to 3 pm. Workshops will be small, hands-on, interactive projects including a variety of visual arts, music, dance and theater performance. The workshops, held at Explorations Academy 1701 Ellis St., are open to participants of all skill levels and ages, so come stimulate your creative potential -- however polished or rusty your talents may be!

    Tickets are available at Explorations Academy. Admission is $35 for the full festival, including the Saturday Wild Salmon Barbeque and Dance and all the Saturday and Sunday workshops. Admission to just the Saturday dance is $7. The workshops are all free for youth aged 11 to 17, and adults can attend all workshops for a donation of $10! This festival is a benefit for Explorations Academy, Bellingham’s fully accredited, experientially based secondary school. Explorations provides teenagers with an exciting and contemporary program through multi-disciplinary curriculum, a community atmosphere, and frequent, extended field expeditions.     We love Breckenridge Farm!: We are pleased to tell you that we are now getting our dairy from Breckenridge Farm in Everson, WA. The small farm is owned by Mike and Elena Gonser and they bring their milk and cream right from the cows to us.
